Barcelona’s in form David Villa looks set to regain his first team place in the Spain national side against Finland on Friday. Del Bosque will almost certainly count on Villa, who is Spain’s top goal scorer who hasn’t been a first team player for some 527 days after picking up his injury at the Club World Cup in December 2011.
It wasn’t one of Barcelona’s better performances this season and perhaps the ghosts of San Siro are coming back to haunt the Catalan side. Barcelona’s assistant coach Jordi Roura has stated that David Villa doesn’t have to prove anything and that the coaching staff have great confidence in him. For tonight’s clash against Córdoba, Roura will be on the bench at the Nou Camp for the second leg of the Copa del Rey match while Tito Vilanova is in New York for a doctor’s second opinion on his condition.
