Great win for Barcelona as Almería are put to sword

messi celebrates with suarez against almeria

It was a great win for Barcelona last night at the Nou Camp with Messi scoring a superb strike to help his team to a 4 nil victory.

The Argentine was on the edge of the box as he cut inside to curl the ball with his left boot past the Almería keeper to put the Catalans one goal up just before half time.

The second half turned into the Barça show with Luis Suárez almost scoring a copycat goal to put the home side 2 up. Marc Bartra then added a third goal to put the game out of Almería’s reach and Suárez popped up again to add a fourth goal and his second of the night to put the game well and truly out of the Andalusian side’s reach. A run down the left flank by Pedro saw him cut inside but the player had good vision and saw the Uruguayan coming in to make a good pass which Suárez put away with ease.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid were playing catch-up against Rayo Vallecano and the game finished off 2-0 to Los Blancos. Ronaldo scored his 300th goal for Madrid and was given a yellow card for what the ref saw as a dive. Video footage suggested otherwise and CR7 will now miss his side’s clash with Eibar on Saturday after picking up his fifth yellow of the season to which Ancelotti was none too impressed: “I told him that it seemed incredible not to whistle for a penalty like the one that he did not call,” he said.

Ancelotti teamed Ronaldo up with James Rodríguez who also scored to make it 2-0 and it looks like it paid off. However, Ancelotti will still rotate his team and said after the game: “Each match has its own story and its own line-up”.

The table stays the same with Real Madrid still trailing 4 points behind Barça.
