Barça keeper Claudio Bravo says Leo is fit to play

Leo Messi foot problems

Barça keeper Claudio Bravo feels teammate Lionel Messi will be fit to play this coming weekend against Celta Vigo in La Liga.

The Argentine astro is still suffering a certain amount of discomfort in his right foot, which he picked up in Barcelona’s Champions League clash against Manchester City. Although scans carried out on Messi prove negative, Argentine coach Tata Martino rested his star player as a precautionary measure for the last two friendlies at the end of March.

Messi has helped Barcelona back to the top of the league and is enjoying a great run in form lately, which was seen in the Clasico against Real Madrid at the Nou Camp last month.

Teammate Claudio Bravo believes that the Argentine will be able to play on sunday when Barcelona travel to the Balaidos stadium to face Celta Vigo.

“Messi looked fine to me”, the Chilean was quoted as saying by Spanish sports newspaper Marca.

“He had a long trip home and he jogged with the rest of the players who also had long trips back.

“He’s fine and looking forward the game against Celta de Vigo.”

Also, a statement from FC Barcelona read: “Leo Messi and Javier Mascherano landed in Barcelona [Thursday] morning and came to the Ciutat Esportiva despite having until Friday off.

“The two Argentinians jogged and stretched on their own. The swelling in Messi’s foot has improved and he will try to join in with Barca’s other international players on Friday.”
