Barcelona to recall Sevilla duo as FIFA ban sinks in?

Deulofeu and Suarez look certain to be called back to Barça

As the two window transfer ban starts to sink in for Barcelona, the club may have to start looking at getting back Sevilla stars Gerard Deulofeu and Denis Suárez. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has thrown out Barcelona’s appeal which means the club cannot sign any new talent until January 2016. This is a major blow for the growth of the team and the Catalans know it.

Barça has five players currently loaned out including Alex Song at West Ham United, and who would not welcome a return as he’s happy in London, Ibrahim Afellay, who’s out of contract with the club at the end of the season, Cristian Tello, who doesn’t even figure in the manager’s plans leaving Gerard Deulofeu and Denis Suárez, as the only two viable options left on the table.

Gerard Deulofeu was a big hit for the Toffees and played some 29 games during the 2013/14 campaign, netting 4 goals. The club wanted him back and thought he was ready for first team action, only to loan him out to Sevilla after 2 months. Barcelona seem likely to give him his golden chance even though he’s not exactly Luis Enrique’s cup of tea.

Denis Suárez is a Sevilla regular and the 20 year old attacking midfielder is taking full advantage of his status and trying to improve under manager Unai Emery. He looks certain to rejoin the Catalans at the end of the current campaign with Barcelona offering Sergi Samper as a replacement loanee.

The ban looks certain to bite if Barcelona start to pick up injuries which would mean the Catalans relying heavily on players they are not using along with home grown talent from La Masia.

If there were ever a chance for FC Barcelona to showcase its talented youth products, now is the time.
