Barcelona’s latest gem Adama Traore hopes to emulate teammate and superstar Leo Messi. The youngster has impressed Luis Enrique this week by coming on as a sub in this week’s 8-1 thrashing of minnows Huesca in the Copa del Rey. He came on to score a great solo goal and things are looking good for the player.

The 18 year old has also signed a new deal that’ll keep him at the Nou Camp until 2018. Traore hopes to emulate Messi but he has previous looked up to the likes of Ronaldo and Ronaldinho.

“My heroes were Ronaldinho and Ronaldo, and now it is Messi,” the starlet said at a promotional event for Adidas yesterday (Wednesday).

Traore continued: “From the moment I walked into the locker room, everyone has helped me, also on the pitch, I talk a lot.”

“My greatest strength is my speed and power. This is what stands out more but I’ll get better, I have many attributes.”

“Today I say that my speed and power are my best weapons, but I wish I could talk about other things in the future.”

“It was a great joy. The whole youth squad would like to score a goal in the Nou Camp and share the dressing room with these players.”

Traore is not really what you call a traditional winger though. His speed is quite outstanding given that he is built like a rugby player. His physical prowess means he can out muscle his opponents off the ball with ease. He could be the beginning of a new Barça with Luis Enrique looking likely to offload both Martin Montoya and Dani Alves in the summer transfer window.

Munir would also benefit if Traore made the first team as more than half of Munir’s goals were created by Adama during last season’s Liga Adelante in which Barça B plays.

Barcelona are certainly in a quandry when it comes to the youngster and they need him in the squad. the question is where to place him?
