Man City, Man United and Chelsea target Gerard Piqué

Manchester City and Chelsea are keeping tabs on FC Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué. It appears that City have joined the hunt to sign Piqué along with Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United and Mourinho’s Chelsea.

After having his back line breached on numerous occasions so far this campaign, Manuel Pellegrini is looking to bring in some reinforcements to plug the gaps. The latest upset to the Chilean’s side was caused this week by an understrength Newcastle side when they pulled off a big Capital One Cup shock by beating current holders City 2-0 to book their place in the quarter-finals.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini fielded a strong team for Wednesday’s tie, but despite their vastly superior possession they were unable to break down the Newcastle defence. To make matters worse, West Ham United beat City at Upton Park in a scorcher of a game 2-1 to slot into 4th position just behind City in third place.

Meanwhile United’s top brass were confident of securing a deal to bring Piqué back to Old Trafford. Gerard Piqué spent four years at United before joining FC Barcelona in 2008.

Manchester United will also stump up £44m to sign Radamel Falcao on a permanent deal at the end of the season.he is currently on loan from Monaco. The Colombia forward is currently on a season-long loan, but has already impressed the club and manager with his performances and condition so far.
