New Barcelona signing Thomas Vermaelen says “he hopes to settle in quickly”.
Barça’s latest addition was giving his first ever interview to Barça TV and fcbarcelona.cat and stressed that his plan is to settle down at both club and city as quickly as possible.
The 28 year-old Belgian insisted: “I need to find my way around, learn the language and get to know the coach and the rest of the players. I’m hoping to settle in quickly. I need to get to know the city better too, I’ve heard a lot of people speaking well of it and I’m very keen to discover it”.
The Belgian international who had a good World Cup campaign had nothing but kind words for the legend he has been brought in to replace, ex captain Carles Puyol: “he has been an incredible player for Barça. He’s a legend at this club. He was always full of passion. I’ll be trying to do my best too”.
Ex Gunner Vermaelen is in no doubt anxious to impress the fans and the club and he will have ample opportunity to do so once the season gets under way against Elche.
