Barcelona’s new keeper Marc Andre ter Stegen is set to undergo specific recovery work for his back injury. The 22 year old German’s pre-season training was interrupted last week and now he is set for tests on his back.
Under new coach Luis Enrique, ter Stegen will be the club’s first choice stopper with other new signing Claudio Bravo along with Jordi Masip bringing up the rear.
Barcelona have not yet said whether their number one keeper will miss the start of the season, but medical examinations have confirmed the need for the 22 year old to complete an individual training programme this week.
A statement on the club’s official website read: “After tests this morning at the club, the FC Barcelona medical services have confirmed the back injury suffered in training on Monday by Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
“Ter Stegen will be given specific recovery work over the next few training sessions.”
FC Barcelona play Elche on 24th August to kick off their league title campaign.
