Negotiations between Barcelona and Liverpool for the Uruguayan striker are still ongoing and a deal is expected to be finalised by the end of the week although some sources say a “matter of hours”.
Although we are not quite sure when the deal will be done, Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu, who played for Merseyside rivals Everton last year on loan reckons that Luis Suárez will be a “great signing” for the club.
Sources report a figure of £75million for Suárez who has been banned by FIFA for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World cup during Uruguay’s 1-0 win over Italy.
20 year-old Deulofeu, who shone under the guidance of Roberto Martínez at Everton, now backs Suárez to do the same at Barça.
Speaking to Spanish sports newspaper El Mundo Deportivo, Deulofeu said: “I think he is a very interesting player. For me, he is one of the best strikers in the world and would be a great signing.”
Asked if he would get the chance to play for Barcelona gain, the youngster said: “Yes, I always thought I would return to Barca,” said the youngster. “I’m very confident.
“I have worked hard this year at Everton and I have learned many things and I’ve been lucky enough to achieve the goal of returning home.
“Yes, they are the best players, but I am very confident about my chances and will work every day.”
It looks like Suárez will form a three-pronged attack with Neymar and Messi but Deulofeu will have his work cut out in convincing new coach Luis Enrique to start him.
