Barcelona set to beat Liverpool to the post for Claudio Bravo

Claudio Bravo

Reports coming in suggest that Barcelona are about to gazump Liverpool in their efforts to sign goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

Barcelona have just signed Marc André ter Stegen as their number one keeper and look like they have learned from past mistakes in their goalkeeping department. With Valdés out injured Barcelona had a couple of months of some very important matches with second keeper José Manuel Pinto between the sticks.

While not taking anything away from Barça’s reserve goalie, Pinto was on the field for Barcelona’s exit in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and also when the Catalan giants failed to make it count in the race for La Liga title when winners Atlético Madrid dropped some very valuable points.

Barcelona have thus learned a vital lesson the hard way and have drafted in Borussia Monchengladbach keeper Ter Stegen as their new number one and have their eyes on Claudio Bravo to back him up.

Barcelona have seen Real Madrid benefit this season from having two top class goalkeepers in their ranks and the Catalans have taken note.

If Barcelona make off with the 31 year old Chilean keeper from Real Sociedad, they will undoubtedly have a duo to fall back on. Bravo will provide some much needed experience for the young Ter Stegen whilst keeping him on his toes if he suffers a dip in form.
