FC Barcelona’s latest signing Marc André ter Stegen is delighted that the Catalan giants have placed their trust in him.
The 22 year old stopper was unveiled today by the club and he had the following words to say: “I think I have taken the right step. I’m happy that everything’s gone so well. Barça have made it clear right from the start how important I’m going to be. I’m delighted; Barcelona have placed their trust in me for these years. This is a fantastic club. There was never another option for me,” remarked Barça’s new stopper.
Before Ter Stegen’s presentation, the young German signed his contract with the Catalans until 2019. The signing took place in the Camp Nou presidential box and was accompanied by club President Bartomeu and Jordi Mestre.
Barcelona revealed that the signing of Marc André ter Stegen cost €12 million and has a release clause of €80 million euros. “You don’t get an offer like this every day. Barcelona is one of the biggest clubs in the world and they play exciting football and have had great success,” said the club’s latest signing.
The 22 year old ex Mönchengladbach stopper said that his inspiration has always been fellow compatriot Oliver Kahn, but he also had great praise for his predecessor, Víctor Valdés: “He is an extraordinary goalkeeper. He has done a lot for this club, won titles, performed very well? but I’m focussing on my job.”
