Alex Song is wanted by Man Utd and Liverpool

According to the Mirror, Barcelona midfielder Alex Song is thought to be in the cross hairs of both Manchester United and Liverpool for the sum of £8million.

And the 26 year old Cameroon international is said to be receptive of both offers. The player is fully aware that the club plan to offload him in the summer when they start their “clear-out” in a bid to bring in fresh faces to their squad. This comes just after two years since moving from North London club Arsenal to the Catalan giants.

Alex Song joined the Catalan club in a £16million deal and it looks like the club are prepared to take a hit on him and let him go for a fee that is half of what they originally paid Arsenal.

Alex Song revealed last March that England would always be his destination should he leave the Camp Nou this summer.

He said: “If I leave Barcelona it will be to return to the Premier League.

“I will return to England one day, that’s for sure.”

Meanwhile Pedro and Dani Alves are facing a dilema this summer.President Josep Maria Bartomeu mentioned that this summer will see some major changes at the club and not all the players are receptive to this news. Both Alves and Pedro have made it clear that they’d like to stay on at Barcelona but neither are 100% certain that they will.

Pedro has lost his place in the starting line-up this season: “I don’t think I’m as strong as last season. This year has also been very hard for me, I have been less involved in important games but I have tried to help the team and my teammates”.

Brazilian Dani Alves also weighed up his situation at the Catalan club:
“Would I like to leave? If this carries on, yes, sure. I thrive on energy and I feel left out. By the club? I don’t know – in general. They’re always talking about changing things here and what needs to be done is to strengthen, not to change. I am in love with the Barça philosophy, but don’t think that every year a Xavi or an Iniesta is going to emerge”, he told Spanish radio station RAC 1.

About Aaron

My name's Aaron and I'm a great Barça fan. I like to tell it like it is and if there is something I don't like about the club or something that needs addressing, you'll know!

Comments

  1. Song would be a good addition to Liverpool’s leaky defensive midfield! Try also Wanyama he has got a lot of energy to burn. The team needs an energetic defensive midfield who will patrol menacingly in front of the back four behind the attacking mid. We will not be caught out like we did against Palace!
