One of the rumours for this weekend is that Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal have been put on red alert for a possible summer signing of Cesc Fabregas says Goal. The website understands the Catalans are willing to sell Fabregas and that both Premier League clubs are interested although Arsenal of course, has first refusal on their ex captain.
Cesc has made 42 starts under Gerardo Martino but with increased pressure heaped on the Argentine, both may be heading out of the door in the summer as the Catalan club look set to shake up the club and offload a lot of their stars. And with Fabregas entering into the final 2 years of his current contract, Barça feels that now may be the ideal time to sell one of their valuable midfielders.
United tried and failed last year to tempt Fabregas away from the Camp Nou with lots of silence from the player himself. He was literally forced to come clean and say in a press conference that he wanted to stay at the Catalan giants as the fans were getting increasingly agitated with the ex Arsenal star.
United are said to remain keen on bringing the 26 year old to Old Trafford but as we said above, his old club Arsenal have first refusal on him which could put a spanner in the works should Fabregas decide to go back to his old club.
Fabregas looks set to command a fee of around £25m.
