Atlético Madrid celebrate their deserved win over Chelsea

Diego Simeone showed last night at Stamford Bridge why he’s Europe’s hottest young manager.Coming from behind Atlético Madrid showed the rest of Europe why they deserve to be in this year’s final of the Champions League.

While many Real Madrid fans think that the “Décima” or the tenth European title is about to fall into “los merengues” hands, Simeone proved last night at the “Bridge” that Real Madrid have got their work cut out if they want to make it a year to remember under Carlo Ancelotti.

Torres scored for the blues in the first half and behaved like the gentleman he is by not celebrating his goal in front of his ex team Atlético Madrid. Just before half time Adrián even up the scores by making it one apiece.

After half time, Thibaut Courtois, who belongs to Chelsea, pulled one out of the bag and saved a John Terry header that was destined to go in and put Mourinho’s men in front. Then the tide quickly turned the other way as Samuel Eto’o brought down Diego Costa in the penalty area. Costa made no mistake and Atlético were now in front.

A majestic second half display from Simeone’s men showed us why last night that they deserve to be in the final to make it an all Madrid derby. Arda Turan was the one to put the final nail in chelsea’s coffin in the 72nd minute. Chelsea could not react with a little under 20 minutes to go and succumbed to a great team – “los colchoneros” of Diego Simeone.

After the match the Special One admitted that Atlético deserved to be in the final against his ex team Real Madrid: “Real were better than Bayern and Atlético were better than Chelsea. They deserve to be in the final. I hope they enjoy it and may the best team win. I must have respect for the team that knocked us out”.
