Barcelona’s midfield maestro Xavi Hernández has only praise and kind words for Koke, a possible target for Premier League giants Manchester United in the summer.
The pair were invited by the Barcelona official website for a face to face interview before their Champions league quarter-final clash.
Koke has been in great form this season for Atlético Madrid and has scored 6 goals in 26 games with 12 assists which puts him in first place alongside Fabregas and Gareth Bale for assists.
With displays like that from the young 22 year old playmaker, it’s hardly surprising that some of the big guns are sending scouts over to watch him. Manchester United appears to be one of those clubs as they look set to rebuild the squad in the summer.
The downside for any club including the Red Devils is Koke’s release clause, which is valued at around 60M euros. However, if United and Moyes want to tidy up their midfield and resolve some important issues, then a high price is expected to be paid.
Barcelona are obvious candidates to beat Atlético at the Nou Camp on Tuesday evening but Xavi knows all about Koke’s incredible ability who his touts as his natural successor in the Spain team.
Xavi said: “Koke is an extraordinary footballer.”
“He has everything, he has talent, physical condition and he is a footballer of the present and the future.”
“He is practically in the Spanish squad now and he will be there for the next 10 years. He has a special supplement, we play practically in the same position and for me he is just extraordinary.”
Great praise from Xavi who views Koke as his successor in the Spanish squad. While Barcelona may have the edge playing at the Nou Camp on tuesday in this first leg, Simeone’s men, who are league leaders, will not give up without a fight. We will expect a tight game and my predictions are: 2-1 to FC Barcelona.
