Croatian midfielder Alen Halilovic is delighted with his dream move to Catalan giants FC Barcelona after making the move from Dynamo Zagreb.
The teenage sensation, who is in the mould of Xavi and Iniesta, signed a five-year deal terms with the Catalan club this week for £1.8million. However, that figure could easily go beyond £10M, it just depends on his future performances for the Spanish league holders.
Halilovic is now tipped to start in Barcelona’s B team and is determined to impress at the Nou Camp before being catapulted to Barça’s all-star starting lineup. Halilovic is the youngest ever debutant for his national side, Croatia and the youngest ever goal scorer.
Speaking to UK daily newspaper Daily Mail, Halilovic said: “I’m delighted and it is difficult to find words to describe what I feel.”
“Many thanks to Dynamo, who will always remain my first love and as the club where my dreams began to be realised. I would like to thank all the coaches and the fans of Dynamo.”
“Of course, Barcelona is something special, I have loved the club since I was a kid and I am honoured to have the opportunity to play for Barcelona.”
“Firstly, I want to win the double with Dynamo and then focus on my new club.”
We first heard about the news on February 27th when sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta went to Zagreb to pip Arsenal to the post for the young starlet.
Alen Halilovic is certainly a great catch for Barcelona. The 17 year old will no doubt impress at the Nou Camp and will carry on Barcelona’s philosophy of having great technical midfielders.
