Arsene Wenger dismisses links with Barcelona

With rumours flying around that Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino could be out of a job at the Camp Nou should he fail to win the Spanish League, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has had to deny suggestions that he could end up taking over at the helm of the Catalan giants.

After a run of bad luck in La Liga, falling to both Real Sociedad and Valladolid in quick succession, FC Barcelona are currently in third spot in the race for the title behind Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid. Therefore, Argentine coach Martino is under heavy pressure to bring home the bacon for the Catalan club and your guess is as good as mine if he’s still in a job by the summer.

Although Barça cruised to victory on Wednesday evening against Manchester City in the Champions League, they will really have to produce the goods and play like they know if they are to lift this season’s European crown. The same goes for La Liga – Barça still have to play both Real Madrid in the Clasico and Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid.

Arsenal FC boss Arsene Wenger is considered an option by The Express as is former Tottenham Hotspur manager, Andre Villas-Boas.

However, speaking ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday in the North London derby, the Gunner’s boss played down all ties and rumours with a move to Catalonia insisting he is focused on Arsenal and the job in hand.

“No, my commitment is always fully here and nowhere else,” said Wenger.

What would the Barcelona fans think of Arsene Wenger joining the Catalan side? If the rumour mill was true, Wenger may be the right man for the job as Arsenal do play a similar game to that of Barcelona and the Frenchman would no doubt, relish the opportunity.

Dont think we could ever get a manager of that quality here, we would have to change our players approach and cheating in games id rather have pep back

  2. Why on earth would he want to go to a declining club and throw away his legacy? for what? managing for some whining catalans?
