It appears that the young defender was the subject of a loan deal last year and the Catalans will have another go at landing him in the summer says Brazilian newspaper Lancenet.
According to Lancenet, it was Spanish newspaper Sport that first alerted them to the news surrounding the 19-year-old promising player.
The Spanish sports daily also highlighted last year that Jose Mourinho was also interested in the player, while insisting that David Luiz was staying put at Stamford Bridge.
Sport also allude to the fact that the Catalan club has no interest in signing a mature centre-back, preferring instead a young up and coming star they could capitalise on financially.
Barcelona are said to be confident in getting the tall centre-back to pen a deal, although it is highly unlikely the Catalan side will stump up the 30 million euros asking price for the lad.
Matheus Doria Macedo could be the next Brazilian that Barcelona sign after Neymar Jr as captain Carles Puyol prepares to hang up his boots at the end of the season.
