Cesc Fabregas credits Wenger as being one of the most influential people in his life

Cesc Fabregas has said that former boss Arsene Wenger is one of the most important influences in his footballing career.

Arsenal FC signed the 26-year-old Barcelona midfielder from the famed Barcelona ‘Masia’ youth academy when he was just 16 years old. Fabregas then progressed through the Arsenal academy before making his first-team debut for the Gunners in 2003.

Of the eight years Fabregas spent at the North London club, he notched up 303 appearances before returning to his home in Catalonia, on Spain’s Costa Brava to play for the Catalan giants in 2011.

Fabregas has a trophy room any footballer can be proud of, winning La Liga, Copa del Rey and FIFA Club World Cup with Barcelona, the European Championship and World Cup with Spain and the FA Cup with Arsenal FC.

Apart from winning just the FA Cup with Arsenal during his Premier League career, the midfielder credits the Arsenal coach as one of the most important influences on his career.

“I prefer not to talk too much about Arsenal because they are doing very well now,” said Fabregas.

“All I can say is amazing words for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger.

“The most important figure to me was Arsene Wenger who I have to be grateful all my life to him and that’s it.

“For me he is the most important person, he knows everything about me, and that’s the person that I owe nearly everything.”

Fabregas also believes that ex Real Madrid star Mesut Ozil, has been an excellent signing by his former coach. The midfielder also expressed his delight at seeing his ex club able to fight it out for the Premiership crown this year.

“They are doing very well and I am very happy for them,” he went on. “I just wish them the very best. “He (Ozil) is a good player.”

“He’s a very good assisting player, so yeah he probably is one of the reasons, yeah.”
