News coming out of Spain this morning suggested that Barcelona President Sandro Rosell would resign later on today and that Josep Maria Bartomeu will step into his shoes at the Nou Camp.However, fresh reports in Spain have confirmed that Rosell has resigned and will give a press conference later today.
It was also revealed today that Barcelona president Sandro Rosell is to be called to a High Court hearing to answer questions over allegations of ‘misappropriation of funds’ in the Neymar transfer.
It has been alleged that the Barça president has profited personally from the deal that saw Brazilian star Neymar move from Santos to FC Barcelona last summer.
Several well-informed sources, including well known Spanish sports newspapers “El Mundo Deportivo” and “Marca” are reporting the news of the Barça president’s resigning with the board wanting Josep Maria Bartomeu to step in and take his place until 2016.
