It was a game that looked like turning into a horror story for FC Barcelona as Getafe found the net twice in the first 15 minutes of play via Escudero and Lisandro.
Defensive problems along with errors from Pinto put Barcelona on the rack within 15 minutes of the first half. The Catalans were sleeping and those two goals made them wake up.
Pedro was in charge of waking up his team as he netted a hat trick in 8 minutes to silence the crowd at the Coliseum in Madrid. Then it was Cesc Fabregas’ turn in the second half to provide two more, netting him a brace of goals in this 7 goal thriller.
Barca was caught sleeping on its laurels and paid the price. Luckily, Pedro and Fabregas stirred from their slumber to sentence the game.It was a sloppy start for the Catalan giants and before they knew it, they were 2 nil down at the Coliseum.
Pedro sealed his hat-trick and completed the comeback just before the half time whistle. A great move started by Fabregas came to fruition after the Getafe defence failed to properly clear Jordi Alba’s cross from the byline. But it was none other than a lightening Pedro who found the net with his left foot to put his team in control.
FC Barcelona had the upper hand throughout the rest of the match and found themselves in possession for the entire second half. The gap was widened even further just after 68 minutes played. Sergio Busquets found space on the edge of the box and found Pedro who, though he was offside, managed to set up a perfect cross for Cesc to convert with a super volley aimed at the far post.
With just 19 minutes remaining on the clock, Pedro led the way again with a penalty awarded to Barca after he was fouled by Getafe’s Borja Fernández. Fàbregas stepped up to take the spot-kick for Barca and dealt the home side the final blow. FC Barcelona’s spectacular comeback means it enters the winter break on a high at the top of the ‘La Liga’ table with Atlético Madrid perched just behind in second place
