Eder Alvarez Balanta is a defender whose name is being touted around the world of football and several clubs in Europe, including Barcelona, have the player in their crosshairs. However, his club River Plate, now needs money because it’s going through a financial crisis and is willing to sell off percentages of their prized Colombian asset.
As reported by Spanish sports paper Marca, the Argentine club plans to sell 30% of the centre back to group of investors which amounts to about 2M euros (20 million pesos) and keep 50% of the economic rights of the player. The family of the player will retain the remaining 20%.
Barca defender Javier Mascherano spoke highly of River Plate’s Colombian defender. “It all looks good but he’s still very young. From what I’ve seen, he has great qualities. When you see him play, he stands out from the rest. He’s only 20 years old and at a club like River Plate, it shows he has lots of character. ”
Eder Alvarez Balanta is a 20 year old centre back and has played in the youth ranks of the Colombian national team and has a great future ahead.
