Spectacular comeback by Barca against Valladolid

Cesc and Alexis celebrate

The first half was typical Barca; lots of ball possession but little else as they couldn’t pierce the Valladolid armour.

The second half was a different story though as Gerardo Martino’s Barca showed just how good they are without Argentine maestro Leo Messi. Alexis was a breath of fresh air and has made an incredible start to the season. The Chilean scored two in the encounter with Xavi and Neymar bringing up the rear in this 4-1 thriller.

Barca’s defense still suffers from arial attacks by valiant teams and against Valladolid was no exception when Javi Guerra headed into Valdés’ far post from a corner on 10 minutes. It was a great goal and the Barca defense was clearly at fault for not picking up Guerra who was alowed a comfortable header.

Alexis made the scores even with a beautiful strike outside the box to give the Valladolid keeper no chance as it flew into the back of the net like a rocket.

Then it was Xavi who broke the stalemate just after the break.A lovely run by Neymar found Cristian Tello on the left who crossed the ball for Xavi to slot in beautifully.

Then it was Alexis to score the third in the 64th minute for Barca. It was Neymar who provided the cross for Alexis on his right to slot the ball neatly under the keeper. Both Neymar and Alexis were on fire now.

Six minutes later it was Neymar to score Barca’s fourth. The young Brazilian deserved a goal with a great performance which left the fans who believe in Barca’s “Messi dependancy” in no doubt that Martino’s Barca can cut it when the going gets tough.

Alexis had the ball in the six yard box and passed to Neymar on his left who calmly picked his spot and rifled the ball to the Valladolid keeper’s left.

After a first half with much of the same from Barca, they came out rejuvenated and with fresh ideas in the second. It was a great game for Barca who consolidates their lead at the top of the table with 24 points.

My name's Aaron and I'm a great Barça fan. I like to tell it like it is and if there is something I don't like about the club or something that needs addressing, you'll know!
