Real Madrid finally land Gareth Bale for £86MILLION

Last night Tottenham agreed a world record deal of £86million for Welsh wizard Gareth Bale with La Liga giants Real Madrid.

After talks with Spurs top brass, chairman Daniel Levy gave the green light for Bale to leave White Hart Lane. The staggering price for the Welshman beats the previous world record of £80m the Madrid club paid to Old Trafford club Manchester United for Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.

To get the highest price possible for Bale, Levy resorted to the tactic of flying to Madrid to talk to Florentino Pérez, who is known to enjoy these situations.

Tottenham paid a paltry £7m to Southampton for the Welshman 6 years ago and this fabulous return on investment will only add to the Spurs chairman’s reputation as a tough negotiator.

According to Sportsmail, the Tottenham chairman has agreed a series of discounts with Real Madrid if the Spanish giants can accelerate the three stage payment deal.

The payments are said to be staggered over six years and means that Real could end up paying Spurs 10% less than the final £86m, but only if they are ahead with their installments.

Terms were laid out last week with Florentino Pérez and that just leaves the formality of Levy and Perez signing a formal document.

Real Madrid plan to unveil Gareth Bale to its fans at a grand ceremony at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium on Tuesday.

The Gareth Bale deal has really spiced up the Spanish League. The two top teams in Spain now go head to head for glory with two of the best signings this summer in the shape of Neymar and Bale.
