I see no problem with Casillas signing for Barca says Santiago Cañizares

The former goalkeeper of Real Madrid and the Spanish international Santiago Cañizares, spoke out on Friday and addressed the complicated situation of Iker Casillas after the Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti chose Diego López over him in the first match of the season against Real Betis.

“I would see no problem with Iker leaving Real Madrid for Barca,” said Santiago Cañizares in an interview on the radio program ‘The Graderia’ on Cadena SER.

The ex Real Madrid stopper explained that “in Barcelona and the world over recognises a figure like Iker Casillas”. The Real Madrid captain received lots of acts of kindness and affection at the Santiago Bernabéu during Thursday’s tribute to ex Real Madrid frontman Raul Gonzalez Blanco.

Cañizares fully understands that Iker  Casillas is considering leaving Real Madrid if he continues to be left on the bench. “What counts is your career and if you can not carry out your profession where you, you look for somewhere where you can,” remarked Cañizares.

He went on: “If I were Casillas, I would begin to wonder that my future is lying away from Real Madrid. So much stress is not normal. ”

Even Barca keeper Victor Valdés stated that he was bewildered with the fact that Casillas was left on the bench, recognising the Real Madrid stopper as the best in the world.

Cañizares noted that “the situation is very uncomfortable for both keepers (Casillas and Diego Lopez).

I’ve never agreed with having two great goalkeepers in the same squad.” In his opinion, “Casillas is constantly in the public eye”, while recounting that “Casillas situation can happen to any player at any time.”

Just as Thiago Alcántara found out that his future was not at the Nou Camp, maybe Iker Casillas will have to look for a new club in order to play. It’s not a normal situation that the keeper is going through and Santiago Cañizares was right on the money when he said that having two keepers in the same squad just means trouble. It looks like Ancelotti is continuing where Mourinho left off with benching Casillas.
