Martino is not using Barca’s homegrown talent

Barca manager Tata Martino is not using the club’s homegrown stars, it appears. The Argentine manager has not used Montoya, Bartra, Sergi Roberto, Tello, Dos Santos and Oier except for a few “bit parts” and who have only played a total of 22 minutes between them.More on Gerardo Martino

First title of season goes to Barca

It was end to end stuff and totally expected. It was a very physical Supercup final and Barca came off victorious although it ended in a 0-0 draw. Atletico’s Felipe Luis got shown the red card with little over 12 minutes to go for elbowing Dani Alves off the ball and Pedro got brought down in a controversial penalty incident which Messi missed. Gerardo Martino: “Neymar would have benefited, not harmed”

Gerardo Martino was speaking about Brazilian Neymar and feels that by not throwing him in at the deep end, he has benefitted the young man. Martino points out that although everyone wants to see him including himself, the Brazilian is still a very young man.

Messi back in training and likely for second leg of Supercup

Leo Messi is back in training and likely for the second leg of the Spanish Supercup final against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening at the Nou Camp. Leo trained with his teammates yesterday after missing the second half of the Supercup and Sunday’s match against Malaga in the league where Barca won 0-1.

Real Madrid finally land Gareth Bale for £86MILLION

Real Madrid have finally landed Welshman Gareth Bale in a deal worth a staggering £86MILLION. It was a agreed last night after Daniel Levy finally gave the go ahead for the deal to take place after talks with Florentino perez last week in Madrid.

Tottenham paid just £7m to Southampton for the Welshman 6 years ago and this is a fabulous return on investment for the London club. More on the Bale deal

Barca suffer at La Rosaleda for 1 nil win

Barcelona were made to suffer against Malaga at La Rosaleda last night for a one nil win. Bernd Schuster’s team was full of young players who were disciplined at the back but lacked finesse up front.

Malaga caused a few scares although it was up to Adriano to break the deadlock on the 44th minute with a wonderful strike to make it 1 nil. Match report on the Malaga vs Barca game

Gerardo Martino slams Gareth Bale deal as disrespectful

It hasn’t taken too long for Gerardo Martino to fire off a few shots in Real Madrid’s general direction. The new coach was speaking at a press conference ahead of today’s match against Malaga and mentioned that the Gareth Bale deal is ‘disrespectful’ given the world’s financial climate.
