Messi adamant he did not pick Tata Martino

Barcelona’s star player Leo Messi has said that he had nothing to do with Gerardo Martino becoming the new coach at the Catalan giants. The appointment of Martino has caused lots of speculation among fans as to whether Messi used his weight at the club to influence the decision to sign him. First blood to Guardiola as Bayern beats Barca 2 goals to nil

It was first blood to Bayern Munich and Pep Guardiola on Wednesday night at the Allianz Arena in Munich for the first running of the Uli Hoeness Cup. Both teams were playing to a sell out crowd which saw an amazing 21 substitutions. Bale tempted by Real Madrid offer of £130m?

According to reports coming from UK newspaper The Sun and Madrid daily Marca, Gareth Bale could well and truly be on his way to Real Madrid for a mega transfer fee. Reports suggest that Real have tied up a £51m five year wage deal coupled with a mega £80m transfer fee with Bale’s representatives although Andre Villas-Boas is ready to fight tooth and nail for his prized asset. Andrés Iniesta gives new Barca coach Tata Martino seal of approval

Barca’s Andrés Iniesta supports the decision of the signing of the Argentine coach and stresses that now it’s up to the players to fulfil their duty. Iniesta was speaking at a function in which he planted the first tree in a reforestation project by Sony and WWF in the village of Júzcar which was used in the film The Smurfs. Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino to be announced as new Barca coach

With just the official announcement to be made by Barcelona, Gerardo Tata Martino will take the helm of FC Barcelona as the replacement for Tito Vilanova who stepped down last Friday due to a relapse of his illness.The coach is currently in Rosario, Argentina and will arrive on Wednesday which rules him out of Barca’s game against Bayern Munich. The announcement of the new Barca coach that will fill the void left by Tito Vilanova is around the corner. The Catalan club’s plan is, as President Sandro Rosell announced on Friday, that the new coach be presented this week. Guardiola: “The news about Tito is very hard for me to take”

Ex Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has spoken for the first time in a press conference after hearing the sad news of Tito Vilanova’s relapse. Guardiola said it was very difficult to speak in German about his friend Tito where he said that he loved him and wished him and his family all the best.Tito is due to undergo an operation in Barcelona on Tuesday.
