The Catalan club and the German giants have agreed to terms for Barca midfielder Thiago Alcántara. The current European champions will pay 25 million euros for the player.
A friendly game between the two giants has also been stipulated in the agreement to be played within the next four years.
22 year Thiago leaves Barcelona after playing just two seasons for the Barca first team. The young star started playing in FC Barcelona’s youth system at the age of 14, in 2005.
Thiago Alcántara was given promotion to the reserve side in the 2008/09 season, where he played a total of 25 matches for the club after coming through the ranks in the cadete and juvenile teams.He made his debut for the Catalan club on May 17 of 2009 against Mallorca.
Thiago’s input in the club has not gone amiss. The midfielder has helped the Catalan giants win three Ligas, 1 Champions League and a Spanish Super Cup. Under Pep Guardiola, Thiago became a full time first team player in the 2011/12 season where he played a total of 45 games, scoring four goals.
This past season, Thiago featured in just 36 games, in which he scored 3 goals. It was a difficult year for the youngster as he was mostly out injured. He also helped FC Barcelona win the 2012/13 Liga title where the club reached the magic 100 points in a season.
Thiago has also played a crucial role for Spain. His delightful and important performances in the latest edition of the U21 EURO Championship in Israel, where Spain beat Italy to win the title, saw the midfielder win the MVP of the tournament award.
