PSG insist on keeping hold of Thiago Silva

The president of French club Paris Saint-Germain, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, says he does not wish to sell the Brazilian central defender and team captain, Thiago Silva as the valuable player is one of the pillars of the Paris club, reports French newspaper Le Parisien.

“Thiago Silva is one of Paris Saint-Germain’s great players. He’s going to continue with us next season. He’s one of the pillars of the team and brings a lot to the club.” said the head of PSG Nasser Al-Khelaifi to the newspaper.

According to Al-Khelaifi, the captain of the Brazilian team is “priceless” and is expected to return to Paris after a well-deserved holiday. That looks like being between 22nd and 25th July, when the team starts its preparations for next season in Sweden.

28 year-old Thiago Silva, who is wanted by Barcelona, had told the Brazilian press that to play for the Catalan giants is “a dream for all players”, but his head is concentrated on Paris Saint-Germain.

With that bombshell of a piece of news, Barcelona will have to shift their attention elsewhere if they are to sign a new central defender. Yesterday, we did mention that Qatar had the key to unlock a possible deal with Thiago Silva but after knowing how Al-Khelaifi feels and what he has in store for the Parisian team, Barca may as well give the chase for Silva up.
