Arjen Robben gets his reward at last

Arjen Robben got what he came for last night at Wembley stadium – a Champions League medal. he missed out last year when Petr Cech saved his penalty and Chelsea went on to win.

Last night was different and Bayern Munich won by 2 goals to one with Arjen’s late winner making it impossible for Borussia Dortmund to respond.

The first half got under way and it was all Dortmund’s way with the occasional Bayern attack. Both keepers were exceptional and kept their respective sides in the game.

A second half strike from Bayern’s Mandzukic in the 60th minute was soon followed by Dortmund’s goal that came from a penalty. Gundogan struck the ball to Neuer’s left leaving the Bayern stopper without a prayer.

The penalty was quite controversial to say the least as Bayern’s Dante should have walked for his clumsy lunge on Dortmund’s Reus which left the player doubled up on the floor. Dante had already notched up one yellow card and this challenge could have been interpreted as a red. In any other game Dante would have walked for having picked up two yellows for sure.

Bayern was outplayed in the first half and this is where Jupp Heynckes showed his skill in the second. The German coach made a few tactical changes to Bayern and the game changed completely.

It was then up to Arjen Robben with a late goal in the 89th minute to seal Dortmund’s fate and proclaim Bayern the winners.

About Aaron

My name's Aaron and I'm a great Barça fan. I like to tell it like it is and if there is something I don't like about the club or something that needs addressing, you'll know!
