Alexis Sánchez and David Villa vying for a place to face Bayern Munich tonight

With just under an hour to go David Villa and Alexis Sanchez will be both fighting for a place on the frontline of Barca’s attack against Bayern Munich.

The Chilean played in Munich but instead of reserving himself for tonight’s clash, he played against Athletic Bilbao in Barcelona’s 2-2 at San Mamés and played for 77 minutes.

On the other hand, David Villa, who played a full match against Levante, only played seven minutes against Bayern Munich and wasn’t used this weekend against Athletic Bilbao making him more likely to be in Tito vilanova’s starting lineup.

The one player that seems to remain untouchable is Pedro, but Tello could also be an option for Tito Vilanova.

Regarding Messi, the Argentine star noticed some discomfort training this morning. Messi will therefore not make the starting lineup thus making a comeback a bit more complicated for the Catalans.

Barca need to score 4 goals in order to go to extra time. If Bayern score just once then it’s going to be goodnight Barca, I’m afraid. It’s not beyond Barca to get the four goals needed and if anyone can do it, then it’s the Catalan giants.

Bayern Munich will walk out onto the Camp Nou turf tonight brimming with confidence and hoping to seal the deal within the first half. Barca’s Dani Alves said that Barcelona need to score twice and go into the break at least 2 goals up in order to be within a shout.

Whether that happens tonight we don’t know. What we do know is that Barca will fight tooth and nail for a chance of reaching the Champions League final at Wembley in London on May 25th.

*Update:

Barca starting lineup confirmed: Valdés, Alves, Piqué, Cesc, Xavi, Villa, Iniesta, Bartra, Pedro, Adriano and Song
