I hope Real Madrid win the Champions League says Luis Figo

According to Spanish sports daily Marca, Luis Figo, ex Barca and Real Madrid star, said on Thursday that “everyone expects” that coach Jose Mourinho continues with Real Madrid next season and was “confident” that his old club can bring home the goods and win its tenth European Cup by the end of the season.

“You have to ask him whether he’ll continue or not, I don’t know what the others think as I’m not at the club anymore. We have to wait and see what happens. Real Madrid has a long history and it won’t end because of these reasons.

Everybody expects him to carry on,” said Figo, speaking about his fellow compatriot Jose Mourinho.

Luis Figo, who played for five seasons Real Madrid and winning a European Cup after leaving Barcelona where he also played for five seasons, was confident that Real Madrid could win the Champions League final.

“I hope they win. The team has good prospects for winning it and it comes at a good time in the season,” said Figo. The ex player thought that the tie against Borussia Dortmund in the semifinal was completely open, although he did think that Real Madrid would reach the final. However, Figo didn’t want to talk about Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I don’t want to speak about other people. It would be better if Cristiano spoke about himself. He’s a great player and has to come to an agreement with the club in case he wants to stay and if the club wants him to stay or not,” said the former player, who ruled out for the moment any talks of going into management.

“I’m living too well to be a manager at the moment. I don’t see it in the near future, although you never know as football is neither black or white,” he said.

Luis Figo was attending the launch of the ‘Corazón Classic Match‘ – a friendly match to be played at the Santiago Bernabeu on 9th June with Real Madrid veterans vs the veterans of Italian giants, Juventus.
