Barca makes sure at Zaragoza with 3-0 win

Barca certainly made sure last night with a great 3 nil win at Zaragoza’s La Romareda stadium. there was no Messi but instead, a team full of youth academy players that showed that could play good football. Goals came from Thiago in the first half on 20 minutes followed by Tello on 39 minutes and 52 minutes.

That sealed the deal for Barca where even Alexis sought redemption with a cheeky chip over the keeper that hit the crossbar. If that had gone in it would have been one of the goals this season for sure.

With Manolo Jimenez’s Zaragoza bringing up the rear in the league table, they didn’t offer up much resistance to a Barca that was missing Messi, Busquets, Iniesta and Pedro, who scored the winner last week to dump out Paris Saint-Germain from the Champions League.

It was a routine training exercise for Barcelona where Tito could experiment with his younger players and give them minutes on the pitch.

One thing that was responsive was Barcelona’s defense. It has come into a lot of criticsm of late but yesterday’s back four only had Alves as the experienced regular first team player. Montoya, Adriano and young Marc Bartra all held their ends pretty well with only Adriano going off for Eric Abidal with 15 minutes of play left.

Zaragoza has been going through a really bad patch and yesterday was no exception as they have now notched up an amazing 14 games without a win. Permanency in La Liga seems to be a million miles away now.

Another new face that got some playing time was Sergi Roberto who came on for Xavi with ten minutes left. He substituted Xavi on 35 minutes and was another example of how Barca rely so much on their younger talent coming through the ranks.

Sergi Roberto was the author of a few great passes that served as a nod to the coaches that he should be counted on.

The final whistle seemed to put the Zaragoza team out of their misery. Barca on the other hand snatched another 3 valuable away points to edge even closer to their goal of wrapping this season’s La Liga title up.
