Pinto in action against his old club Celta Vigo today

Today’s game against Celta Vigo will be special for number 2 goal keeper Jose Manuel Pinto. The goalkeeper from Cadiz is returning to what was his home for some 10 years from 1998 to 2008.

And it is here where he lived some of the best professional moments of his career after becoming the goalkeeper who let in the least amount of goals in 2006.

Jose Manuel Pinto has always been very grateful to the Galician club, but today he’s going back to defend the Barcelona goal against a struggling Celta Vigo.

Victor Valdes’ four game ban after the controversy with the referee at the Santiago Bernabeu after the game against Real Madrid, means that the doors have been opened to the Andalusian goalkeeper.

The first game he played this season was against Deportivo – two games ago, where he managed to keep a clean sheet. In the last game against Rayo Vallecano, he was somewhat unlucky and conceded just the one goal.

Pinto has two more outings as first team goalkeeper in the absence of Valdes – today’s game at the Estadio Municipal de Balaídos and the next clash against Mallorca.

It is only logical that once Valdes returns, Pinto will be on the bench but nevertheless, today will be a special day for Jose Manuel Pinto playing against his old side where he spent 10 years of his career.
