xavi hernandez hamstring injury

Barcelona’s Xavi Hernandez has suffered a hamstring injury in his right leg that will keep him out of the game for at least two weeks. Xavi picked up the hamstring in Barca’s 1-1 draw with Valencia at La Mestalla stadium on Sunday evening.
Xavi will miss two league games, against Getafe and Granada, and a friendly international against Uruguay with the Spanish team on Wednesday in Doha (Qatar).

Xavi had to be subsituted in the 90th minute during yesterday’s intense match by Thiago as he began to feel pain in the hamstring of his right leg.

Barca hopes that the 33 year old will be able to return for Barca’s Champions League first leg round against A.C Milan on 20th February and also the second leg crunch game between Real madrid in La copa del Rey on February 26th.

A statement by the club read:

“After tests revealed a tear in his left hamstring, Xavi Hernandez will be out for the next 15 days and will miss Barca’s next two games against Getafe and Granada.”

Xavi Hernandez is a key component to the Catalan club’s success this season and has scored five goals along with five assists so far. He will be missed by his team-mates and the race is on to get him fit for the Champions League.
