Andres Iniesta was again, very influential and decisive for Barca at La Rosaleda stadium. Iniesta not only scored a crucial goal just eight minutes after Malaga managed to equalize and make it 2 apiece and momentarily force a possible extra time duel, but was one of the most outstanding players in his team, again.
Iniesta is at cruising speed at the moment. He began the season by dosing himself. Until the seventh league match of the season, he had not played two consecutive ninety minute matches which were against Real Madrid and Deportivo. If he plays tomorrow against Osasuna, he will equal his best in terms of regularity this season – by playing five games in a row.
Iniesta however, believes that we haven’t seen him at his best yet: “I’m happy, I feel good, but I think I can do better,” he said in perfect Catalan after the match at La Rosaleda stadium against Malaga.
Iniesta said he was comfortable playing on the left where he has been these last few games, interchanging positions with Cesc Fabregas who plays behind him. Iniesta, who comes from Fuentealbilla, already has four goals this season; one against Levante in La Liga, one against Celtic in the Champions League and two more against Alavés and Málaga.
Regarding the Clasico against Real Madrid next Wednesday in their semi-final tie of La Copa del Rey, Iniesta calls for peace: “It will be a contested playoff, but we hope that the tension remains on the pitch and that there’s not a repetition of what has happened in recent years. What happened back then has already been forgotten by everyone.”
