Malaga game is our first match ball of the season says Jordi Roura

Second in command at Barca Jordi Roura, has described the second leg of the quarter-finals of La Copa del Rey against Malaga as “the first match-ball of the season.” After two setbacks, the team is feeling strong: “It is the first match-ball of the season and we have to win the game. This is our intention and I don’t think the setbacks we’ve had will affect us.”

The team is fully aware of the importance of this match and we’ll play the game with the same intensity as we always do. ”We’ll treat this game with the importance and respect it requires.” Jordi Roura insists that the team will not be affected by the last few results because it always gives its best.”

“We know the game will be very difficult but I think it will be a very nice tie,” added Roura.

Speaking about the state of the grass, he said: “we need the pitch to be in perfect condition and so do Malaga. I would like to think that the grass is ok.”

“The attitude of the players has been commendable and we are ready for this match. The players always want to play,” said the coach speaking about the team’s morale.

“It is true that we have had a few bad results, but I don’t think the game is coming at a particularly bad time for us.” He insisted: “it’s how you react after these types of results and the team will react well.”

“The way I see the team, I’m sure they will react just fine. The team is looking forward to the match,” he added.

“I don’t think Malaga will play defensive football – they’ll be coming to get us like always and play the best they can. I don’t think their philosophy will change.”

And what if Barcelona is eliminated? “Of course it’s a possibility, but if the team keeps up the intensity, enthusiasm, desire and still doesn’t win the match, I think the team will carry on just the same,” says Roura .

“We will pull out all the stops to go through,” insists the coach.

“Malaga is a team of champions, with a great squad and will not be affected by the two players that are out –Toulalán and Isco, although they are both very important,” concluded Roura speaking ahead of Thursday’s match against Malaga.
