Piqué, Iniesta, Xavi and Pedro rested for La Copa del Rey

adriano training on tuesday

Gerard Piqué, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Pedro Rodriguez have been left out of the Barca squad for tomorrow’s match against Cordoba in the Copa del Rey at the Nou Camp. Barca won the first leg of the tie at Cordoba 0-2 on December 12th 2012.

Just one player from the reserve team, Sergi Roberto, has been included in a list that also counts on keepers Pinto and Valdes, defenders Alves, Puyol, Mascherano, Bartra, Jordi Alba and Adrian Montoya, midfielders Cesc Fabregás, Thiago, Dos Santos, Busquets and Song along with front men David Villa, Alexis Sánchez, Leo Messi and Cristian Tello.

Therefore, Pedro, Piqué, Iniesta and Xavi will be rested for this crunch match that the team has been preparing for this morning in the sports city just outside Barcelona. Adriano Correia has also been seen training with the group and this is good news for the Brazilian.

Although it was just a week ago that Adriano experienced a sore hamstring in his right leg, he was ruled out on Sunday against Espanyol although the player had worked these days in the gym and not with th rest of the group.

In the morning training session, both Adriano and winger Isaac Cuenca were seen training along with Sergi Roberto with the rest of the team.

Only French defender Eric Abidal has trained apart from the main team closely following the specific guidelines that the coaching staff has laid out for him.
