Adriano: Barca’s most prolific wing back ever

Adriano, Barcelona’s wing back is turning into one of the most prolific, if not the most prolific wing back goal getter the club has ever seen! He has scored as many goals as fellow Brazilian Dani Alves did in the 2008-09 season but has managed so far to do with 23 games fewer than him. His contract is up for extension soon and Barca would not want to let this gem go loose.

Is Barca suffering from “Messi dependence?”

People are calling it “Messi Dependence” and are question whether Barca relies too much on the Argentine to beat the opposition. Barcelona says that it doesn’t, although it does recognise that the current success in the League, domestic and European competitions is due to the phenomenal goal scoring ability of their star player, Leo Messi.

Barca interested in Belgian star Thibaut Courtois

Belgian star Thibaut Courtois is apparently being “courted” by Barca. The 20 year old star who is on loan to Atletico Madrid from North London club Chelsea signed him last summer on a five year deal from Genk. He was immediately loaned out to the “colchoneros” to replace David De Gea who left the club for Manchester United.

Athletic Madrid succumb to an awesome Barcelona

It was a great game at the Nou Camp last night with some fantastic goals. Barcelona beat Athletic Madrid by 4 -1 in a fine display of one touch football. Radamel Falcao managed to score a great goal to level at 1-1 but it wasn’t enough to keep the Catalans out of Athletic’s penalty area and score three more and put 13 points between Barca and Real Madrid.

Iniesta gets his position back against Athletic Madrid

Andrés Iniesta will get his usual midfield position back for tomorrow’s crunch game against el tigre Falcao and Athletic Madrid. The Barca midfielder has been moved back to his usual playing position due to the absence of Cesc Fabregás who is out of action for 4 weeks due to injury.

FIFA refuses to acknowledge Messi’s record

The world governing body of football, FIFA is refusing to acknowledge Lionel Messi’ record breaking goal scoring record when he beat Gerd Muller’s awesome 40 year record. The Zambian FA have also been ignored over the controversy surrounding Kabwe Warriors striker Godfrey Chitalu who scored 107 goals in 1972.

Eric Abidal receives distinguished award from French Chamber of Commerce

French footballer and FC Barcelona defender Eric Abidal was award the distinguished XIII Prix Pyrenees last night granted by the French Chamber of Commerce. Eric has been a role model not only for the world of sport but for members of society, too. He thanked everyone for the award and acknowledged that it had been a difficult year for him.

David Villa and Dani Alves to leave Barca?

If things do not change for Barca players David Villa and Dani Alves at the Nou Camp, they could look elsewhere. Both players have lost their first team places and both players need minutes on the field to be counted on for the World Cup that will be hosted in Alves’ native Brazil. Barca could sell these two to open the door for big signings such as Neymar.
