Just last week Valencia made some inquiries about Barca’s Isaac Cuenca as a possible reinforcement for the “Ché” team in the winter and is now awaiting a response from FC Barcelona.
Valencia wants the youngster, who is still under contract from Barca until June of next year on loan with an option to buy him, as a winter reinforcement for the team. So far talks that have been held with the player’s agent have been very positive.
21 year-old Isaac Cuenca, who was operated on in the summer for a knee injury has still not been able to get back into the first team and therefore sees the loan deal as an excellent opportunity to get some minutes on the pitch. This is something highly unlikely at Barcelona at the moment due to the level of competition amongst players fighting for the same position. This loan deal would give him the opportunity to reach a very high fitness level again and also find his game.
Talks between both clubs have been put on stand-by due to Tito Vilanova’s relapse and operation but Valencia are insisting on the Isaac Cuenca loan deal as they urgently need to strengthen the right wing as they will miss Feghouli who joins his national team Algeria in January to participate in the African Cup.
It’s not only Valencia that has shown interest in Cuenca either. Both Granada and Valladolid have inquired about the youngster and Barcelona at all unwilling to cede the player in the January transfer window.
As for David Villa and Chilean Alexis Sánchez, Sporting Director Andoni Zubizarreta reiterated on Saturday that neither player is on the market nor will be transferred in the January transfer window.
