Thiago Messi is born

Argentine maestro Leo Messi and wife Antonella Rocuzzo welcomed into the world their first child this afternoon. He goes by the name of  Thiago Messi and was born just after 5 0 clock.

Messi is doubtful for the game against Celta Vigo on Saturday evening at 18:00 but Barca coach Tito Vilanova said that if everything goes well, Messi would be at the game.

Thiago was born just after 5 0 clock this afternoon at the famous Dexeus clinic in Barcelona. Thiago is the young couple’s firstborn. Antonella was taken to hospital first thing this morning and Leo was with her all the time.

It has been confirmed however, that Messi, who didn’t train with the first team this morning will be present for the game against Celta Vigo tomorrow evening at 18:00.

According to Barcelona sources, Messi was allowed to be absent from today’s training session due to “personal matters”. Tito Vilanova told a press conference today that it didn’t matter that Messi had not trained for a day, stating that it did not change anything.

Messi was ecstatic and had this to say on his Facebook page:

“Today I am the happiest man in the world, my son was born and I thank God for this gift! Thanks to my family for the support! A hug to everyone”.

This week Messi told the press that he would not push young Thiago into a footballing career:

“He should be whatever he wants to be, Messi told Spain’s top selling daily sports newspaper Marca.

“When he grows up he will get to know what he wants and what he chooses will be fine for me, for his mother and for everyone”.

The social network sites are buzzing with excitement today full of wishes for Leo, Antonella and baby Thiago.
