Man City denies interest in Cesc and Busquets

Manchester City have denied any interest in key FC Barcelona players Cesc Fabregás and Sergio Busquets and have had to make a public announcement to quash any false claims.

Northern giants City have been the attention lately of the media linking the club to Barca pair Cesc and Busquets although the the claims seem to be completely unfounded.

There had been reports stating that City had made contact with the Catalan giants over the availability of two of its top stars, Cesc Fabregás and Sergio Busquets, but City have made it clear that they are not interested in the Barca duo.

A statement from Manchester City read: “There’s no basis to these claims and the club has neither made nor is it planning to make an offer for these players.”

Manchester City strengthened its midfield during the summer transfer window with Javi Garcia from Lisbon outfit Benfica but they also saw Nigel de Jong leave for Italian giants Milan.

Ex Gunner Cesc Fabregas left North London club Arsenal for the Camp Nou last summer for a sum in the region of £23.5 million, while Busquets has been at the club his entire career, coming up through the ranks of Barca’s prestigious youth academy – La Masia.

Barca president Sandro Rosell believes it to be a ploy to unsettle the harmony at Barcelona.

I don’t think City is trying to unsettle Barca as transfer speculation is part of football and Barca play their fair share in the transfer rumour mill.
