Barca coach Pep Guardiola believes that “the League is in the hands of Real Madrid. Our intention is to win to make the league last a little longer. If Madrid win or tie the match tomorrow, then the the league is theirs. We can only win and if we don’t, then we will try again.”
“We haven’t failed but Real Madrid have had some setbacks but it was unexpected for us to reach this game and be in this situation. We have a chance to win the league but if we fail, I’ll congratulate them,” he added. Asked about how Real Madrid will play, Pep said: “Madrid will come to win the game, to try and put a stranglehold on it. They’ll try to play in space and they’ll try and win the game”
Pep Guardiola: “Whatever happens, we have already won”
The Barca coach had nothing but admiration for what his team has achieved. “We have already done what we have set out to accomplish. People can not blame us for anything. On the contrary, we have done what we have set out to accomplish and we’ve done it well. Whatever happens, we have won. The fans are proud of us because we have played very well, “he added.
Pep stressed the role of Cristiano Ronaldo and his duel with Leo Messi. “Fortunately in this game, players are more decisive than their trainers. And what Ronaldo has done along with Messi this season is unbelievable” he said.
Finally, the Barca coach wasn’t too clear regarding the possible squad against Real Madrid. “Alexis is doubtful and Gerard Pique knows the respect that I have for him”. We’ve both been here before and I know how the dressing room feels. All the great players want to play in this match. On Saturday I will make my choice and he’ll understand”.
