The Catalan giants, and current Champions League holders, looked very much like securing all three points at the Nou Camp after Pedro and David Villa had cancelled out Alexandre Pato’s early goal.
Unfortunately for the Catalan side, Thiago Silva scored a header in the 89th minute to help his side share the spoils – something the Spanish midfielder believes was undeserved.
He said: “What happened on Tuesday is pure bad luck, totally unfair.
“The other day (Barcelona’s 2-2 draw with Real Sociedad) we dropped our intensity in the second half of the game, but this time the team played well, we pressurised them until the 90th minute and we had possession of the ball.”
Xavi has stated that his side are over the disappointment and will now focus all their attention on the upcoming La Liga match against Osasuna.
He added: “We have to win now on Saturday. We’ll battle on, we know we have a great team to carry on winning things and we’re competitive.
“It makes us very excited and every year we start from scratch without looking back.”
