Barcelona’s new boy Cesc Fabregàs was celebrating last night as he scored Barcelona’s second half goal to see the Catalan giants to European Super Cup success.
The former Arsenal captain came on as an 80th-minute sub in Monaco and scored with three just minutes left to play.
He moved on to Leo Messi’s clever chip and put the ball in the back of the net.
Fabregàs won just one major trophy , the FA Cup, in his eight years with North London club Arsenal.
But this was his second trophy in 10 days since his transfer after Barca’s Spanish Super Cup win last week against Real Madrid.
It was thanks to Argentine Messi’s superb quality and a lot of luck that the Champions League holders took a 39th-minute lead.
He was standing in an offside position when he intercepted a backpass by Porto’s Fredy Guarin. Messi promptly rounded keeper Helton and slotted the ball in.
