Barcelona FC Beats Club America 2-0

Barcelona FC put on a show to close out the Herbalife World Football Challenge on Saturday at Cowboys Stadium. With a David Villa first-half goal, Barcelona FC finished their tour on a win over Club America 2-0.

Fans were booing often in the first five minutes because of the slowness of the game. The tempo was the stepped up quickly following Club America forward Vicente Vincente Sanchez’s opportunity to score in the seventh minute. Sanchez received cross with only Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes in front of him but got caught up with a Barca defender behind him in the penalty box. Valdes wasn’t put to the test much in the game before he was substituted for Jordi Masip. Club America had only one shot in the first half and four in total against Valdes before he was taken off in the 73rd minute of the game.

Midfielder Thiago Alcantara drew some of the loudest cheers from fans when he displayed some amazing dribbling abilities. Alcantara finished the match with three shots. Pedro also had a solid game despite having only one shot. Pedro always seemed to be matching Villa stride for stride down the field when Barca was in attack mode. Barcelona FC finished the match with 15 shots, seven on goal.

Barcelona dominated possession over Club America by a scorching 71 to 29 percent. Barca also had more corner kicks than Club America 8 -4 in total.

60,807 people turned up to watch the match, but it goes without saying that if Lionel Messi had played, it would’ve drawn a much bigger crowd.

About Aaron
